Tuesday Thoughts

  • Yep, it's Panda Express. We already have 2 buffets and one sit down Chinese restaurant in this town... I can handle another though!
  • It looks like they are preparing the land next to the Walmart (behind the Chili's) for something too.
  • Maybe it's the long awaited Long John Silvers!
  • Comicon was a success. I almost broke 2 grand in sales. All of it (except rent for next show) is going back into stock for AnimeFest in September.
  • At the convention I sold about 5 of the WhimWars games and gave a couple away. You can see the website at WhimWars.com or buy the game at RenegadeAnime.com
  • I am in the middle of watching the British comedy Bottom. It's the same guys from The Young Ones. It's like smoking... the wife makes me watch it in the other room (she hates it so much).

Wednesday Thoughts

  • I have been drinking Dr. Pepper 10 for a while now and I still wonder why they used the Star Trek font on the bottle. It looks kinda home-made, like something I did for the show.
  • I discovered today that Exxon will not let you buy more than 100.00 worth of gas on one transaction... the way things are going they are going to need to adjust that.
  • This coming weekend is Comicon. I hope to rake it in!
  • My friend Chris and I have created a 'paper and pencil' game to sell at Comicon. It comes complete with dice, rules, and map inside a nifty plastic case. It's called WhimWars. I got the domain name but haven't gotten anything out there yet.
  • I am getting closer to having my mom's rent house finished.
  • They have torn up the parking lot infront of Walmart in Decatur. I heard long ago that Panda Express was going there but the site seems awfully big for that... we will see.

Friday Thoughts

  • I noticed that they are working on the spot for the new CVS. That will be nice. I like them better then Wallgreens.
  • When are we going to get a Home Depot in Decatur?
  • Do YOU remeber when Taco Casa's tacos were .25 each? I do... somehwere in the 80's.
  • I mowed the back yard last night. It was full of those springtime wild onions. Man did my clothes stink after that!
  • The hospital is about to start PET scans (like a cross between a MRI and a CT). I asked when I could bring my cats and dogs in... they said I was stupid.
  • What the heck is up with this sign? Its like someone was in a rush to make it and forgot that they had started the sentance on top.
This is Punch. Punch looks irritated that I am taking her picture.

Monday Thoughts

  • Went to WinStar Friday night to see Duran Duran. FANTASTIC. A lot of moms coming unhinged at that concert (acting like teens again).
  • Note to self... NEVER go to WinStar on a Friday night.
  • Only got to gamble for like twenty minutes. :(
  • I hauled out the slide projector this weekend. I love that thing. Viva la 'Old Technology'!
  • Got the garden started too. Last year all we had success with was cilantro.
  • I also moved my PC back to the 'library room' since the cold weather is over and I won't get frozen out.

That's Simon from the Duran Duran concert Friday.

Flew the old kite Sunday... man that's fun.

Friday Thoughts

  • In Europe they renamed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles because 'Ninja' was considered too violent. What wusses!
  • The toy show that I was to set up a booth at canceled today. The email said it was due to low dealer turnout. I asked for a refund and I marked all the other 6 off my calendar.
  • How can you run a successful business if you do stuff like that?
  • One of my 2011 goals is to play all of my board games at least once. I have about 100 of them (if you include the dice games). I am about 6 down so far.
  • I noticed the South Beach Taco Factory in downtown Decatur today. South Beach... really?
  • Yesterday was VERY stressful at work. It sucks when management refuses to realize they have too few employees to do so much and expect the same quality of work all the time.
  • This is an awesome 80's cartoon intro.
  • But this one is EPIC.

Wednesday Thoughts

  • I've seen 2 accidents involving 18-wheelers this week alone (Decatur and Fort Worth). In both, at least one of the 18-wheelers was on it's side.
  • Ever heard of Kraftwerk? It was a 70's electronic band who influenced EVERY BIT of music you are hearing nowadays. Check out 2 of my favorite songs of theirs. Here and Here. Here is another one.
  • Next month the creative meetings for the 2011 Hangman's House of Horrors. I intend on going and giving some kick-ass ideas.
  • I found the medical term for the one thing I fear most in life. It's called Physic Horror. That is the few moments you experience when you KNOW you are about to (or are) dying.

Monday Thoughts

  • I'm looking but I don't see any Cyber Monday deals that are all that great.
  • I just finished Cheech and Chong's Up in Smoke and just started their 2nd movie. I haven't seen so many VW Beetles on film in my life.
  • Check out this piece of informative animation. It's quite funny.
  • I signed up for an account at Xtranormal (the place that video above is from) a while back but couldn't think of a funny script to write for it.
  • Went to Durant to the Choctaw casino and didn't see what the big deal was. I lost my money just as fast as I do at WinStar. However... they do have 'let it ride' on the gaming tables. That's cool.
  • I got my MAME arcade machine back up and running yesterday.
  • I had a burger from the Wendy's in Decatur (finally). The meat on the hamburger wasn't as good as other Wendy's. I guess the employees need a little more time to figure out the best way to cook them. I noticed they weren't as squished as other Wendy's. Maybe that's the trick.

Monday Thoughts

  • We are moved now. My favorite motto is: 'A place for everything and everything in it's place.'
  • Its so nice to be close to everything.
  • Traffic sucks but I have found a way around the traffic.
  • I sent off for a 'rocket firing' Boba Fett figure from the New Star Wars line. Everything that was old is new again (except the customers who now have cash to spend on this stuff).
  • Decatur seems 'sleepy' compared to Fort Worth now.
  • I can now see whats playing on Public Access TV in Fort Worth opposite of my show...
  • I REALLY need new stuff out there. I need to fill in those time slots!
  • Television is 80% reality show now... Oh man that SUCKS!
  • I cringe when I see a reality show on. How low has our society sunk?
  • NPR is annoying with their 'better than you' liberal mentality.
  • WBAP is annoying with their weekend 'thinly veiled commercial-shows' and CONSTANT commercials.
  • Both of those stations are better than all the other stations combined though.

Tuesday Thoughts

  • When did the flip flop become the national shoe?
  • Why does civilization revolve around alchahol? I don't need it why does everyone else?
  • I bet Obama would hate shopping at Target at Montgomery Plaza, too many middle class white people with their hard earned money.
  • When I helped open the Target in Burleson they said it wasn't a Super Target becasue there was a HEB going up across the street in the future.
  • The HEB is almost finished (6 years later) and now I see signs saying that Target will be carrying food soon...
  • The Walmart in Burleson got a complete makeover recently as well.
  • I BET both stores are reacting to the forthcoming HEB.
  • Competition is great. The consumer wins!
  • Bush senior's crap line was 'no new taxes' Obama's is 'it's fully paid for'.
  • He loves throwing that one around.

Wednesday Thoughts

  • I got ahold of a Donkey Kong arcade machine Tuesday. I will see if it works. If not, I will make a MAME cabinet out of it.
  • Went to WinStar this weekend. FAIL.
  • That trip to the Galleria and Farmers Market... uuuuggggghhhhhhh.
  • News articles that prove this is the end times... Here Here
  • Watched Avatar on Blu-Ray. Wow. What an impressive movie.
  • Did you realize that Avatar is basically Pocahontas?
  • Was going to bring my VW Beetle to work to get it inspected but it died in the driveway as I was pulling out. Maybe its out of gas.
  • I have narrowed the issue with the riding lawnmower, the cylinders have crud build up and it's not allowing compression to happen easily. I will have to clean it out.
  • I have no idea how to do that so it will be a learning experience.
  • Wendy's is coming to Decatur! They have the best fast food hamburger I have ever eaten (the double meat).

Wednesday, July 14, 2010

Wednesday Thoughts

  • Well, after much work it looks like my riding lawnmower is for the graveyard. I just don't know enough more about it to keep it going. EDIT - I got it working again with the help of a neighbor!
  • I had a guy come mow the yard yesterday since I was still working on the mower. They didn't show up until 8:45PM and finished at 9:50PM. How in the heck can you mow in the dark?
  • There is something new going in in front of the IGA Foodliner (now called Marketplace) in Decatur. I wonder if it will be the CVS they are talking about...
  • I never understood calling a grocery store Foodliner.
  • I watched the new Star Trek last night on blu ray. Still don't like all the light glares they added for effect.
  • It has been revealed that the Senator's race in Minnesota might have been WRONG. As it turns out 300+ ineligible criminals voted for Franken and he won by that many votes. politics is such a joke.

Monday Thoughts

  • This weekend was 'annoy your neighbors with your ATVs' weekend.
  • This weekend was also 'shop till you drop to honor our troops' weekend.
  • I remember when you rented an apartment you paid X amount of dollars for rent. Now a days you pay X dollars + gas +water +waste water/sewer. They don't tell you have to pay for all this extra stuff until YOU ARE RIGHT ABOUT TO SIGN the lease.
  • I hate apartments.
  • We went to one of my favorite shopping places this weekend (Goodwill). It seems like everyone there was a 'I have to touch EVERYTHING on the shelves' type of shopper.
  • Apparently CVS is coming to Decatur. I like CVS better than Walgreens.
  • Did you know Walgreens used to be Wallgreen? People added an 's' to the end for so long the company changed the name.
  • Can you remember Eckards? All you have to do is think of Walgreens and change all the signs. Drugstore chains ALL LOOK THE SAME INSIDE.
  • Does it really take a whole MONTH to process a home loan? Really...
  • Tonight is 'yard work' night. Too exciting.
  • Pancho's is... blech. I'm surprised there are any left.
  • Several years back Pancho's went 'healthy' by changing their mascot to a thinner, healthier guy... I have noticed that NONE of the 'healthy' Pancho mascot restaurants are open around here...

New / Old

Wednesday Thoughts

  • The data recovery place says the hard drive is unrecoverable. I am calling bullshit on that. I am sending it to another place.
  • I was able to get into the pool last week. Still chilly, but good enough.
  • The economy is still in a 'recovery'? Yeah, right.
  • I just watched the Nightmare on Elm Street Doco: 'Never Sleep Again'. If you ever wanted to know anything about that movie series check it out.
  • The 3rd season of Time Slip is in black and white again... I guess the color season finale was just a one time special. That's an interesting concept, using color to make an episode an extra special event.
  • Taco Casa here in Decatur is almost open. I saw someone at Walmart in a Taco Casa uniform.
  • The crappy hotel next to 287 (I think its a Super 8) finally emptied out their pool. It was like a black swamp. It gets that way every year.

Thursday Thoughts

  • I was watching Harry Potter and the Sorcer's Stone. You can visibly see Harry age from scene. It's distracting.
  • The next 2 weeks is make for break for my wife and her future career.
  • Taco Casa in Decatur is almost done. There is a hiring sign out there now.
  • I bet Taco Bell is shaking in their toastadas.
  • Interested in music lyrics and how important they are? Read this (up to 5 parts now) blog stream from my friends.
  • I am composing a blog about illegal aliens and the whole Arizona thing for the other blog, so check it out starting Monday.
  • The title says it all: What part of 'illegal' don't you understand. The balance between law and compassion.
  • It's that time of the year when we have to do all that annoying insurance at work thing.
  • Today is the 3rd paycheck of the month... no insurance take out! Woohoo!
  • I think one of the most endearing phrases to come from the Internet is the phrase made for photos of cats and dogs where they are saying: 'Do not want'. It's so funny.
  • My VW is still in the shop. I am almost afraid to call and ask about it because I am not sure I will have the cash on hand to pay for the repairs.
  • I was home the other day when there was this huge boom and the house shook. I thought something happened to the house (the the carport collapsed or something).
  • Read later that it was believed to be a sonic boom of a jet. At first they thought it was a gas well explosion. Probably a secret government project.
  • The pool is still to cold to get in. I am guessing it won't be till the end of May that I can comfortably get in.

Wednesday Thoughts

  • We were supposed to have snow yesterday but it hit South of here. That makes me happy.
  • The yard is like a swamp. It really needs a good solid week of drying out.
  • The cafe here at the hospital ran out of Ketchup yesterday... everyone panic!
  • I am watching Faulty Towers at the moment. That show is a jam packed 30 minutes.
  • When I was in the cafe getting breakfast I saw them making the stuff for today's lunch. It's taco salad. Man do I love to eat. I can't wait for lunch!
  • Speaking of eating there is a Shell station on 730 and 287 that makes the best crispitos. I mean the best! They make all sorts of food items there and they have one of those Hunt Bros. Pizza in there too!
  • One downside to that place is that it's always crowded.
  • Decatur high is just down the street so in the morning you will usually see kids with too much money getting stuff there.
  • When I was a teen none of us (in my school) had a car less than ten years old.
  • All these kids have current model vehicles.
  • I guess that's my generation's "up hill, barefoot, in 2 feet of snow" story.

Wednesday Thoughts

  • There is still snow is spots here and there. A reminder of the madness.
  • I figured out that I like winter weather ONLY if it a.) doesn't inconvenience me and b.) isn't windy.
  • I have been dissed by the 'big time' blogger in Decatur. I think I shall remove him from my blog list.
  • I have been asking for permission to film somewhere in Decatur in front of a business...
  • This town has been freaking silent. It hates me.
  • I hope we can sell our house in April and move back into Fort Worth.
  • I love West Fort Worth.
  • I am proof reading Chris' book. Oh man... I think one person will like it... Chris.
  • That picture is Chris hanging out at Trinity Park with the Mark Twain sculpture.
  • Some sites utilize way to many exclimation marks. Like this one.!!!
  • I watched Galaxy Quest on Bluray last night. That's a fun movie.
  • I found a website that lets you stream your webcam (or whatever). I am thinking Chris and I will try this out as a weekly meeting. Yeah, it's free.
  • I missed the Westminster Dog Show this year. I try to watch a little of it but we got rid of our Dish Network. Oh well.
  • Maybe others don't care for the Westminster like I don't care for the Olympics. They think it's pointless (like I think the Olympics are). See, I can consider everyone's opinions.

Monday Thoughts

  • I don't ever remember snow this deep.
  • Apparently it has never been this deep.
  • The Global Warming nuts say the blizzards are because of global warming.
  • They will change their facts no matter what the situation to keep 'global warming' alive.
  • Such a crock.
  • I have the opinion that if you don't have something crowding your schedule you waste your free time.
  • If you are busy all the time, you get extra stuff done because your free time is precious.
  • I have been doing a lot of writing lately but it seems harder and harder to come up with new ideas.
  • Saw the Olympics on the TV... don't care.
  • Who actually does care, IMO only those involved with them.
  • Blew 130 bucks on dinner last night... oh the things we do for Valentines...
  • Out on Thursday and Friday from work, my truck got stuck in the mud at the house.
  • Had to have my boss come over and help me get it out.
  • My bumper is slightly skew-wiff now.
  • I did get a LOT of editing done on my show this weekend. I can thank the snow for something!
  • Did you know I had a TV show (as if I haven't gone on and on about it). Click here.

Wednesday Thoughts

  • Why are there always lines at the WalMart gas pumps? It's like a 4 star restaurant... I know it ain't that good.
  • Finally picked up a Transformers mega-scale Skywarp from WalMart (to adorn my desk). It was 60 bucks! I was just waiting until it went on clearance. It was half price!
  • The weather has been soooo miserable lately. The yard is just mush when you walk on it.
  • I actually got my Ni America water bill this month! Miracles do happen.
  • I transferred my fish back into the big tank after a rigorous cleaning. I think they are happier. They are at least less stressed since their temp tank was in the cat room.
  • I want to sell my house. Please refer people to it! If you have them tell the realtor you referred them I will give you 3 thousand bucks. I mean it! Here's the link.
  • I started watching my Watchmen Motion Comic on BluRay last night. Many I love that!
  • I am going to write a review about it soon.
  • On my other blog I am supposed to be having help from my cohort in crime...
  • He has not been helping.
  • This is disappointing.

Monday Thoughts

  • Stayed the night at WinStar (or should I say LoseStar) again. Nothing new to report, my luck still stinks.
  • I think I should decide that I will not go gambling ANYWHERE where it takes me more than 10 minutes to reach the location. I think it will save me lots of money.
  • I had a poker party for coworkers on Saturday. Its very embarrassing to have them drive through New Fairview to get to my house... Did I mention I live there?
  • There was a strange sight Saturday at the 114 West turn off of 287. There was an accident but apparently it involved a couple of large vehicles so by the time I got there they were sanding the muddy road to get traction for the mega-tow truck and they had a big dumpster with people picking up all sorts of trash on the road. I'm sure there's an interesting story there.
  • Anyway I was heading to Giant Burger when I saw that mess. They were VERY nice there. I am guessing they are 'economy-proofing' themselves by pleasing customers.
  • They have always been nice, they were just EXTRA nice this time.
  • Their burgers are Giant, just like it says.
  • Watched bits of the Superbowl while strolling the casino, not too interested.
  • I did notice that the stadium they were in was very bland. I can't wait to see what happens when it is in Arlington next year. I'm sure Jerry will pull out ALL the stops.
  • Everyone was going on and on about how Louisiana needed this because of Katrina BLA BLA BLA. So, you are telling me this win will mean all those abandoned, run down neighborhoods are going to get fixed because some grown men threw a ball around?
  • Hype.
  • I just think winning a Superbowl = good news for memorabilia sellers in the area + good news for local economies where the game is held (for about 2 weeks). That's ALL.
  • Hype.
  • Can you tell I'm not into sports. I am in a VERY SMALL minority but I am sticking to my guns. I think professional sports is a waste of time.
  • I think college sports is a tragedy. If they spent the money on academics how many cures could they have found by now? How many decent presidents would there be?
  • Yes yes I realize sports brings money into a college, but still, they focus on it too much.

Tuesday Thoughts

  • The Settlers of Catan is a fantastic board game that is easy to play. You should try it out if you have never played it.
  • I am trying to find players here at the hospital but it looks like no one is interested in it.
  • Now if it was called, hog huntin' maybe they would be interested... I kid, I kid!
  • On a strange note, I noticed that the Character BJ Honeycut on M.A.S.H. is the only character to appear to clean his 'junk' while in the shower. While dialogue is going on in the shower (which is pretty often), he will reach down and appear to lift his leg and appear to be gettin' after it. Funny.
  • Having been basically 'jilted' by the Bridgeport Off 380 players 3 times now I have given up on the idea of being a volunteer with them. Pitty, I am one of those steadfast people who will show up when ever needed and who can be fiercely loyal.
  • By being 'jilted' I mean I tried 3 times to get any of them to say 'show up here at this this time'... never happened.
